ANSWERS WITH EXPLANATIONS

1.       B     he. The complement of the verb “to be” must always be in the Nominative Case
2.       B,    did not accuse; “Not” cannot be substituted by “never”
3.       D.    between them;  When there are two persons involved, “between is the conjunction that should be used.
4.       C.    the only son. The adjective “only” must be placed before the noun it qualifies
5.       C.    more skilful than; in the comparative we have the use of more than
6.       C     do you intend; The inversion is necessary because the given sentence is in the form of a question in Direct Speech
7.       B     was eating my food. The past continuous denotes that an action was going on at some point in the past
